![]() > 32KB cartridges: 4501-4584 (The Sega Cartridge) (last two digits matching for games released on both card and cart) > Every game has a code classifying its type. In the readme for this I go into it in some detail but here's the short version. On the Game Gear the product code depends on the publisher. TecToy's numbering scheme is entirely incomprehensible. There are also exceptions, like the Parker Bros and Codemasters games which have different codes. Obviously a game was assigned a (sequential) number when in development but not all were finished and some games take longer than others to be completed, so the release order is approximately numerical and there are some gaps. Often the number is printed on the box as "MK-2xxxx", I don't know the significance of "MK". Third-party publishers follw a very similar scheme but numbers start with a 2, and numbers overlap (so there can be a 9001 and a 29001). ![]() In the readme for this I go into it in some detail but here's the short version.Įvery game has a code classifying its type.ģ2KB cartridges: 4501-4584 (The Sega Cartridge) (last two digits matching for games released on both card and cart)ġ28KB carts: 5051-5123 (The Mega Cartridge)ġ28KB carts with battery-backed RAM: 5500-5501 (The Mega Plus Cartridge) How does the Catalogue numbering ( I guess its called this, the number at the bottom of the spine on a SMS game box ) work? is it in release order?Īpproximately. ![]()
